Back to School Checklist
Before the school year begins, be sure to check these items off your list:
► COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED FORMS AND ENSURE YOUR FAMILY INFORMATION IS UP TO DATE. At the beginning of each school year, check your profile to ensure all information is complete and up to date. If there are any changes—including emergency contact information and any change of email or mailing address—update your profile in the Panther Portal. Click your name in the upper right corner and select Profile in the dropdown menu. For dual-household families, create and submit a monthly custody drop-off and pick-up calendar to the office.
► CHARGE AND PACK SCHOOL IPADS. All returning students should charge and bring their technology equipment from last year. New students will receive iPads on the first day of school by our IT Support Specialist, Skyler Williams.
► FULFILL ANY IMMUNIZATION AND HEALTH RECORD REQUIREMENTS by clicking the Magnus Health icon on the Panther Portal Resource Board. Email our school nurse, Michelle Donald, with any questions about the health record requirements.
► GET A SPORTS PHYSICAL, IF INTERESTED IN PLAYING SPORTS. After school teams sports are available for students in grades 4-8. An annual physical is required for any Rawson Saunders team sports participation. We will need to have an Athletic Physical Form and an Athletic Permission Form on file prior to participation on a sports team at Rawson Saunders.
► REVIEW THE SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT with your child and help your child schedule time to complete it. Summer Reading Assignments by grade: 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade.
► REVIEW THE PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK. Please review the parent/student handbook. Click here to view. Important details regarding dress code, student absences, grading and other information are included.
► PLAN SNACKS AND LUNCHES. Each student needs a full water bottle, 1-2 mid-morning snacks, and either a packed lunch or a pre-ordered hot school lunch each day. You can order school lunch through Barnison Catering by visiting our lunch page in Panther Portal.
► SIGN UP FOR AFTERCARE. General aftercare is available for a fee until 5:30 p.m. each full school day (aftercare is not available on half days). The fee is $22.50/day for drop-ins and $17/day if scheduled and paid in advance by quarter or semester. Sign up for aftercare here. Several after-school programs and clubs will also be available after the school year begins. Stay updated here.

► BOOKMARK THE 2026-27 ACADEMIC YEAR CALENDAR. Bookmark the 2026-27 calendar to stay up to date on holidays and events. You can also automatically add dates to your calendar by following these desktop or laptop instructions or these iPhone or Android phone instructions.
► REVIEW THE FAMILY GUIDEBOOK. The Family Guidebook is your comprehensive electronic resource containing all the practical information needed to navigate the school year successfully.
► WE PROVIDE SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR OUR STUDENTS. There is no need to purchase school supplies! However, all students will need to supply noise-reducing or noise-canceling headphones, which are used regularly in addition to the tech requirements by grade (note: all student iPads must be purchased through the school). Also, students in Middle School are required to purchase their own paper copy of class novels from which to read and annotate. Their Language Arts and English teachers will provide a book list for you to purchase at the beginning of the school year.
► LABEL EVERYTHING. Our Lost & Found is always full! Please remember to label clothing (especially sweaters and jackets), water bottles (which need to be brought to school daily), backpacks, lunch boxes, and headphones.
